Hearing places are getting restocked with consoles, guys.
Great news if true. This really seems to be a much better launch supply chain than the 360 by far. Wish I could justify a second one for the BR but I'll have to wait until it drops to $299 or so. Since that is where I'll play out my remaining 360 games, it doesn't really make sense to get a second X1 as yet either.

This weekend my plans are Minecraft 360, some Fallout New Vegas and more Dead Rising 3. Oh and I really need to try out the Zoo Tycoon Demo. So much love for my two systems, meanwhile my Vita and DSI XL look at me like I was jerk.

Downloaded the Zoo Tycoon demo for my 4 years old daughter, the game is so good and addictive. I'm thinking of buying it now. Also, playing Ryse and DR3 is phenomenal but playing Zoo Tycoon with my daughter is priceless!!:D

I disagree, well to explain, yes there are more "journalists" now, as the internet grows and further "matures" and I use that term lightly we see more and more sources now.

Saying that, I disagree it is for any monetary purpose, hating on the X1 is not the "in thing" right now, the problem is people do not comprehend that when a product may not live up to everybodies expectations, people will be vocal about it, this is how it was with the PS3 and it took a fair share of flack for years.

Same thing.

You should remember very well how Agriel would handle anything being said, to him, he thought it was all unwarranted also, yet there were legitimate complaints made (regarding the PS3) but guys like him just couldn't see it.
Jesus, someone making mature comments.

If a few websites make negative comments, maybe we can deduce they are being bias or something, but when most major reputable websites do so also, then maybe there is more than just being bias. I regular IGN & gamespot over the years, mostly for game guides/walkthrough, & never notice any obvious bias. People suddenly believe they are paid by Sony, have all become Sony fanboy all of a sudden this coming gen?

I never hear people complain about COD developers before, but now, suddenly they are lazy, now I also heard people said Ubisoft is lazy, just because they release xbox one version of the games at lower resolution.

Actually, I heard the 'lazy' comments before, except it was from Sony fanboys, directed at Bethesda, and many other developers I forgot, for releasing subpar version of their games on PS3.

Come on guys, we are better than that.

Yes, there are indeed some reports that are nonsenses, but if game journalists & gamers do not make complains on areas that fall short, you think MS will bother or speed up improvements? If there are valid complains, & suggestions for improvement, then I do not see why we cannot voice them out. Just because we make some complains, doesn't make us suddenly Sony's fanboys. People complain because they care & wanted improvement (most anyway).

Had gamers/developers and websites not make various complains last gen about PS3, you think they will make the improvements for this gen, like better controller, better developing tools?

I am having issues with the Kinect auto sign in, it never works. I always have to go up with the controller and select the profile I want or do the voice command to sign in, and yes I have Kinect setup to sign in

The larger public has little or no idea, at all, about what's going on in the introverted world of console fandom, and the myopic perspective of video game yellow journalism. It's from the mainstream press that they get their news, and the mainstream reporting about the Xbox One has been overwhelmingly positive. Even Adam Sessler commented on the disconnect between the two vantage points, and it's the general public that will account for the majority of sales.

I agree with that. But I still wonder how much of a percentage hardcore gamers who follow these consoles are.

Either way, Michael Pachter seems to believe price is Microsoft's biggest problem, not PR with hardcore gamers.

If it was marketed about it being "all about the games" the price might be a monkey on it's back. However the mainstream press is touting it's technological innovation, and that is an all together a different beast. You don't see too many people crying and wanting a price cut from Apple. Microsoft is marketing the Xbox One as something other than a mere game console, and how often do you ever see the PS4 even mentioned in the mainstream media?

Im actually satisfied with the progress we have made against Microsoft haters this week. The blatantly biased articles are all being called out. A couple of prominent web sites and reviewers have all destroyed their reputation forever. The Sony narrative that the x1 is not selling has been utterly crushed.

We still have progress to make. I would like to see Kotaku, Eurogamer, and Edge fire some of their bloggers. That is at a minimum before I will link to articles on those websites again. I'd like to see a main stream media outlets expose some of these websites as paid shills and pure advertisement. Perhaps even a Senate investigation into Sony for gifts and graft.

But other than that, things are going pretty good.

Re-run the Kinect setup. This has worked 100% of the time for me. Every time I walk in the room or my son walks in, it auto-logs us in. It's also worked when turning on the system when I'm sitting in a chair 10 ft away and also on a couch that is off to the side. I've been more than impressed with it's ability to find and recognize us.

Personally, I would like to see a little less paranoia about what's being said by the farcical entities that comprise much of what is touted, very loosely, as the "gaming press". Their audience is quite small comprising only that tiny percentage of gamers who actually bother to read about consoles and gaming, and a very narrow spectrum of those gamers, at that. We, in fact, do ourselves a great disservice by spreading their baseless rumors, lies and innuendo.

Best way to show X1 is by word of mouth. Or do what I did and have a buddy come over and just show what it can do. He walked away impressed and now plans on getting one by Christmas.

Oh, nothing wrong with spreading truth, any way we can.

All I can do is base my opinion on personal experience and not with all that fodder thats out there. So far I have had no issues. I must be doing something wrong then. ;)

Thanks but do you have to do the setup often?

I have a question. I'm going to buy a USB3.o external storage for the X1 even though it isn't supported...yet. Obviously all these devices aren't created equal, ie some have different drive speeds and quality, what would be the best option for the X1 to play games from in the future? And why do usb3.0 storage devices have different drive speeds?
Usb3 drives are pretty much internal hdd inside a hub case that converts sata to usb3. You can build your own or buy one assembled. I would recommend either hybrid drive with hub or even better 128GB ssd +2tb 7200rpm drive into hybrid usb3 hub.

This almost feels like a line out of a conan movie.

Cheers, so if I'm buying off the shelf I want to make sure it's a 7200rpm drive rather than some of the 5400rpm drive units, that will be better for running games.

I think you're taking it all a little personally. And it's never a good sign when Mrxmedia's lead disciple "likes" your comment.

I agree that there was a crazy backlash against the xbox that was devoid of all connection to the reality of the situation, and just fueled by internet "lemmingdom". But that's all over now, and the overall reaction seems appropriately positive.

If people are now bitching about the console interface, then that's fine. Let them. It's not all unjustified, to be honest. I've been through some software upgrades to stuff I've worked on, and gotten slammed by the client for things not working as expected, or for things that used to work no longer working because of supposed improvements to the system (things that make sense to developers but not to end users). I would have been slammed a lot harder if that gap between what was expected and what didn't work was so big as some of the problems with basic Live functionality. I mean, c'mon, they'd pretty much perfected working with parties, joining games, viewing online friends, and all of that stuff is now needlessly more complicated than it was before. There's no need for it, or if there is, if there's some mystical revelation that will happen because of underlying systemic improvements, I'm not seeing it yet. The fact that it's harder to simply create a party and join a friend's game is something that's going to rightly get called out, when it was such a strength of the 360.

As I always tell people when they tell me I'm being cruel for pointing out when someone's cooking sucks or something like that, "If I don't tell them, they'll never improve." The harshness regarding the XB1 UI is at least partially warranted, and it's not the end of the world to hear it. It will only make things better in the long run.

After watching how the 360 OS developed over time, I have absolute confidence in their ability to make this OS damn near perfect in short order... so much so, that I really am not worried about anything that is a little bit of an issue right now. We know it's going to be fixed, we know it'll eventually be enhanced and we know there is a chance it could be replaced with something better down the road.

Actually I agree with you and old guy. I'm sure it will get better soon (As did the 360), but there are definitely some annoying things that should have been worked out prior to launch. I mean the party system on 360 is great, so why make it more complicated?
I love BF4 but for the life of me I still don't understand why they can't make their party/squad system easier. I mean Halo had this down pat years ago!
I really like my X1, and I'm more excited for the future than ever (c'mon Titanfall demo!!), but there are things that need fixing, and the frustrating thing to me is they are obvious things that shouldn't be there at launch.

Microsoft Offers Discounted Xbox Live When Trying To Cancel, Free Month When Mentioning Move to PS4

It’s a pretty common practice between companies that povide subscription services to offer customers wanting to cancel tempting deals in order to persuade them to stay on board, and apparently Microsoft isn’t an exception.

One of our editors just made the jump (at least for now, knowing him he’ll be back soon) to PS4 and decided to pull the automatic renewal from his Xbox Live account. The system immediately presented him with an offer to subscribe for twelve months at a discounted rate ($3.99 a month, for a total of $47.88, 12 bucks less than the usual $59.99).

By talking to a customer support representative we learned that the offer is random, so it may not happen to everyone and there may be other offers lurking about, but if you want to try for the discount or explore for different possibilities, it really doesn’t require much effort. All you have to do try and remove the automatic renewal from your account and see what pops up. You can always reactivate it right after if you receive no offer or just cancel the deactivation process if the offer you receive doesn’t entice you.

Even more interesting, while chatting with the customer support representative our editor was asked why he wanted to cancel his subscription, and he candidly responded that he was moving to PS4. The representative immediately retaliated by offering a month of free Xbox Live Gold, no conditions, just to use “later down the road,” as you can see in the screencap below.

Again, it’s not a given that this will happen to everyone, as we don’t know how much leeway customer support reps are given in offering this kind of deals.

Say whatever you want, but that’s a pretty neat way to try and keep your customers, and to entice them to return down the line if they don’t care to stay on board at the moment (looks like they’re even willing to wait as long as twenty years). It’s also a perfect example of the beneficial (for the customer) effects of a pitched competition.

Yeah as 7200rpm are faster. What I would personaly buy is this Seagate Hybrid 1TB $79.99 or 2TB $129.99 they are both 7200rpm also

So I picked up Need for Speed Rivals and wasnt expecting to have as much fun as I am. They have done an amazing job blending in single and multiplayer with zero transition through other menus etc. The game gets super intense, cops are tough, and the game looks great also. Get it!
