One of the features i am really looking forward to. It would have been even better if you could do it like this:

- For example play DR3 and after a while stop playing it.
- Start a different game and then after a while start DR3 again...and pick up where you left.

But that's not possible, right? It only works if you start up DR3 right away and not play another game in between, correct?

Still it's damn awesome. I can already see it in front of me. I'm playing Dragon Age Inquisition until late in the night/morning, i then turn the X1 to sleep and the next day i just continue where i quit, no loading screens, just BAM....right into the game where i left it. Lovely. Only downside is that the console is never fully turned off.
Suspend/Resume is really cool! I love going to run afew errands or do a couple of chores or something, then come back to my golf game right where I left off. Love it!

Yeah it's great when sometimes I'll be playing a game, then turn the X1 off while still in the game. Next day, when I tell the X1 to go to that game, it brings me back exactly where I was already in the game session, just paused. Amazing.

I've been tearing up some "Xbox Record that!" commands lately too. It also works when you say, "Xbox, record that......muffugah right now you sum bish and be quick about it before I guerrilla stomp dat ass!"

Correct - It will automatically download all the updates, some of the games will only install the updates when you start the game, but the update is there, ready to install. You will know if an app has been updated or are ready to by updated, there is a little star on the icon. Nice feature

I had to download Forza 5 update separately when I booted up the game. My X1 has the standby mode enabled too. So I guess some select games don't have that feature?

Only Ac: Unity, COD, SO and Halo MCC? Where is FH2, Ori and the blind forest, QB, D4?

On the contrary, I think digital only might become the future but I'm saying we're just not ready for it now. Servers bogged down, internet caps and speed limits, limited hard drive space. Face it, if we are going to digital only already starting this gen, think about how many harddrives you will need to store all your 50GB games. Think about the additional cost you will need to buy all those harddrives ON TOP of the original price of the game which btw you can't re-sell back!

I say we keep both and let the consumer decide, that's all I'm saying. People who want to do digital only can do so. People who want to get physical copies can do so. And that's the way it should be. I'm sorry I just don't agree with being online and digital only right now.
Well when they release the console they have to think 10 years ahead, DVD DL seemed like enough when gen started but in the middle of it we realised that it's not enough. Why would I need to buy multiple HDD? Game is always in the cloud for me to re-download.

When xbox 360 released fastest speed you could get from cable company was 6Mbps and now you can get 100Mbps, think about another 5+ years and you can see 50Mbps being average or even 100 which means it would be faster to download than to go to the store (already is for me)

I agree sure, people should be able to buy physical, but prevent them from re-selling as used games are hurting Digital and gaming industry as whole.

Who ever said people use game sales to finance new purchases should think the whole deal and not just one person. On average one game changes hands 5 times which is $240 lost profit on every game that devs sell. Person who buys used and re-sells it for sure won't go buying a new game but instead find another used one.

So as end result all of us are being hurt by not getting as many options to play so some gamers can go and get games used.

I so understand people stuck with no choice of good internet to download, but they are a vast minority that majority shouldn't suffer because of them. Even though a lot of gamers want re-selling and what not, they don't see the big picture of the affect and should have a corporation make the decision for them.

It'll be a while until physical media phases out. The bandwith options just aren't there yet, some places don't even have high-speed internet yet. Developers will be missing a huge chunk of market share if they go digital only. Heck, even CD's are still available to buy in stores.

I've heard people make this argument before about a game changing hands 4 times so it's costing the developers 240 bucks. That doesn't make sense to me. That is assuming that ask those people were going to buy the game at full price, but that would not be the case almost every time. That third and fourth person would probably be buying it WAY late. Not to mention most of them wouldn't have bought it period if they didn't get a big deal on it. I know that's the way it is for me when I buy used. And from working as an ASM for Gamestop for a few years, I can tell you that a large portion of gamers subsidize there new game purchases by selling their old games. I know I would not be able to buy nearly as many new games if I weren't able to sell me old ones.

Also a digital only future scares me a bit. Look how bad both Sony and MS are at dropping prices on their digital games. They are horrible. At least with a store you'll see more price drops to clear space for newer inventory. In an ask digital world they don't have to worry about that.

I like the idea of ask digital, but I also am scared of it at the same time

These are those kind of things that i'd really call new and i guess next-gen too. Sure i guess it doesn't matter much if the game is something you won't nessecarily wanna play again after it, but if is....this feature is brilliant. I already know when Dragon Age comes out that i will be giving many other games some rest, with a truly good RPG, the addiction kicks in and that will mean i'll be playing that game every damn day. Awesome stuff.

But not only for that, i bet it;s great for many games. Let's say you are playing Forza Horizon 2, but the dog needs walking too and after that, you're going to buy some groceries, well put the X1 into suspend mode and when you come back....you just continue where you left off. With 360 now....you have to watch all those intro screens again, loading times etc.

Must not work all the time. Others here have confirmed that we had to go wake up the Destiny download on the PS4 when we got it on our computers here at work.
That's because Destiny on PS4 uses it's own download system. You redeem a code and download a small file which you then need to run to start downloading the rest.

One thing about a digital future, it will be great to get rid of the clunky and bulky optical drive on the consoles.
And then by that time SSDs will be cheaper, imagine a small, sleek console with almost no moving parts or mechanical components on the inside.
It will be interesting what they could come up with 5 or 8 years from now.

I'm glad they achieved parity on both consoles. Good on Bungie and Microsoft for the extra effort.

I'm still deciding if I'll even get it. But if I do, I'll have another decision on which platform. PS4 has extra content but my X1 is hungry for new software.

With a little effort all third party games will achieve parity. And that's not because the Xbox One version has to be toned down to keep up with the mighty PS4. In a perfect world every game would fully utilize the cloud and the X1 version would shine above all else.

Well I'll stick to practical performance improvements for now. If the Cloud is a real difference maker, then great.

If a person wouldn't buy the game in the first place, they also wouldn't be hogging the part of servers either. Which cost devs money with no compensation.

I'm sure that person who bought used would buy after a price drop.

I think that they are getting there with sales. Now we have something on sale all the time.

I do digital sharing and I'm sattisfied with it. Which to dev means instead of selling a game and it having changed hands multiple times it is only shared between 2 people.

On xbox 360 I played 240+ games and only bought Fifa 12 used as I scratched mine by moving xbox while disc was spinning.

I donated and gave away 99% of my games some to friends but most for poor kids.

I know that there's truly people who can't afford many games, but those don't account for so many gamers that actually do so many used games. If I was in your position working at GameStop, I would probably buy whatever was best deal while I'm at work. Now when I'm at home I just don't feel like driving 10 minutes to game store and 10 back and 10-30 to install and hussle of discs when I can download and start playing in 15-20 mins.

I find it a little funny that you keep mentioning the game changing hands several times, why, because MS was implementing( and claim to still be brining it) a share program that allowed you to share with up to 10 people. I seriously doubt they did this without developer/publisher feedback.

There are many reasons why a DD only console is not a great choice for gamers or publishers.

1. As stated before, the used market is a big part of the gaming economy.
2. We saw from last-gen live numbers that 10s of millions of gamers never even hooked up their 360/PS3
3. The state of Internet is simply not good enough, especially in the biggest gaming economy, America. Such a large of portion of consumers seemingly have r******d data caps in place.

All these = less sales, less profit, and a potentially devastating effect on console gaming if moved to DD only.

You can eradicate the first point by having a digital used market, or mad steam like sales, but the other two are totally out of publishers and MS's hands.

So I took the Xbox One out of the box today... But the console is still neatly wrapped like a mummy...

Maybe next week I'll finally get around to plug it in...maybe...

The spot on the server has already been bought and paid for. it doesn't matter if the original owner is online playing, or if the second owner is online. Only one person can play online with that copy, so IMO the server load doesn't matter.

There are plenty of people who would buy new games regardless if they can sell used games or not, but there are plenty who can/will only buy as many new games as they do because of used sales. Selling games online allows me to buy 8-10 brand new games a year as opposed to 4-5 games without being able sell games.

That was the beauty of MS initial vision concerning digital. You still got to buy the disk to install the game eradicating the need for huge downloads. You still had the option to sell your game. it was a halfway house between retail and digital. All the convenience of digital with the ability to install straight from disk and to sell on.

Seems like you're just arguing points that would be viable for the convenience of yourself. Not everyone has enough bandwith limits to download several 50GB games / month. Why not just do both? I don't get it. Physical games have been around forever and publishers/game companies have been getting along just fine.

Not that i care much about it. But DF has not fully analyzed Destiny yet, Same res and framerate does not matter that much, cause there can still be some missing effects on one version. Look at Sniper Elite 3 for that. If that's the case with Destiny too, it won't be complete parity.

I think a simple fix would be that the Developers/Publishers should get a cut of used game sales. To me they are literally stealing their game at Brick and Mortar stores. I am definitely not a big government guy, but here is where I think a regulation would be justified. Devs don't get to profit from their own work, and they have to support that community whether people buy it used or not. And people wonder why there are so many DLC schemes. It's really bad when Gamestop sell a recently released used game and then sell it for 5 bucks less than a new copy, and then Knock off 10% through the rewards system. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you...

I don't get it. LOTS of things have a large used market and get along fine just fine. (Cars, phones, etc...). Why is it that with games it's suddenly a problem. Remember that people have been selling and used games since the 8bit days and before. I had the same problem when they were doing all the online pass crap just a year or two ago.
