Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

Should I finish all the quests at one area (currently at Hinterlands) before opening & explore new ones. I think I have enough power point to open new areas.

Special bond we share:grin:

Mine was in Crestwood. That Hinterland one is next.
Do not not know where any others are. I know there is one in the Western Approach, but every time I try and engage it flies away, perhaps a war table mission is needed ?

There is one on the stormy coast fighting a giant if you haven't dealt to it already.

I read it was better to move on from Hinterlands then to stay there, not to mention there are some fairly powerful baddies in a couple areas . But i recommend doing as much as you can then doing as much as you can on the stormy coast because i found the next part in the story pretty hard.

When is the best time to move on then? A specific level or what?

I would strongly advise against doing that. The Hinterlands, while pretty and vast, has some of the dullest side quests, and honestly, I think it is the least interesting place.
A better solution would be to spend a few hours in the Hinterlands, explore, do some quests, find materials..etc, but then move on to other places like Storms coast. To finish the Hinterlands would take you like 20 hours anyway. Just move around, try new areas, come back to the Hinterlands and other places here and there and eat away at its content for a couple hours again.

Also, do not spend 20 hours doing side quests and leave the main story in limbo. I did that and it was a terrible decision. Mix it up, do a bit everything. Not only is that the best way to experience the game, IMO, but it will also stop you getting bored or sick of any one place or activity.

94 hours played and finished the game, did spend much time on the side quests.

mod note: Let's make this a separate thread for people who want to talk about spoiler-iffic aspects of DA such as the storyline, ending, etc.

Hooray someone to discuss the story with and other spoiler-ric things!

Was surprised about Solas, sow he was one of the ancient elves and close friend of Mythal and the artifact seemed to be some sort of way for Mythal to get a new body ? Since Mythal has to take Solas as her new host.

I suggest a separate story & plot/romance thread for DA. So do not spoil it for rest of us.

I have only 10 hours in.

Like others have said, don't get stuck in the Hinterlands. You might find this rant worth reading:

For me, the main benefit of leaving the Hinterlands and progressing the main story was to unlock new companions, since I wasn't happy with the original setup.

Do we really need this ? I have seen nobody in here posting story spoilers, or spoilers of any kind really.

Yeah, kind of is needed. Most of the discussion in here has minor spoilers like without haven or sky hold, but if you've finished the game, you are going to want to discuss it with constant spoiler tags.

Sky hold is not a spoiler. Neither is Haven really, as that also was mentioned several times in interviews, previews..etc. Nothing of any real note has been spoiled.

To be fair, it was never made clear you should move on, & not try to do everything in one area, before moving on (like most games).

Now I know, so I will move on after some essential stuff.

Then comes the next question (hopeful without a spoiler answer), when should I returned then. Is there part of story that asked you to return after you leave or something?

You are never forced back to the Hinterlands as far as I know but I haven't finished the game yet so it might happen. You go back when and if you want to.

Maybe not. I guess we'll see how much traffic it gets. If it isn't used, it'll just die off. People are always welcome to talk about the storyline in here, using spoiler tags when appropriate, but I figured a story/spoiler thread might be a good option for those who had finished the game and wanted to talk about their reactions openly, without having to constantly shield everything. I noticed a couple of people had finished the game and wanted to talk about the ending. Starseeker's request played into it, too.

To be fair, it was never made clear you should move on, & not try to do everything in one area, before moving on (like most games).

True. I think they assumed players would want to advance the main storyline or explore other areas as soon as they could. But actually, a lot of people were like you and me, and they played the game like they would most RPGs -- finishing off everything in an area before moving on, which in this case is a mistake. This is Bioware's first stab at an open-worldish type game, so maybe they're still feeling their way with the design. I saw a tweet from a Bioware developer, saying basically, "Leave the Hinterlands!"

Then comes the next question (hopeful without a spoiler answer), when should I returned then. Is there part of story that asked you to return after you leave or something?

Well, there will be some quests in the Hinterlands that you simply cannot do until you level up or visit other areas, so you'll need to come back later to complete those, when you're ready.

Here's a cheese shield you can find somewhere in the game. The Wedge of Destiny:

What I got from the ending was not that Solas was an ancient elf but the Elven god Fen'Harel. He had been asleep for so long he no longer had the power to use the orb, thus gave it to Coriphius(sp) because he did have the power. However he realized his mistake and joined the inquisition to fix his lapse in judgement.

The only thing that's messed up is I drank from the well of sorrow instead of Morrigan. And I don't have a save from before I did that. In hindsight, not a good move.

Used some time on that, was thinking about what would be worse, there was this about the price to pay sow I let Morrigan drink from the well

Found some more tier 3 armor & weapons, still nothing exciting or cool:sad:

Question: What is the deal with Master works in crafting. Are they master works 100% of time ? cause I would have thought the name would say master crafted vigorous bow, or whatever. I have some bear claws that say they give a 50% chance of a master work, but are they for non master work schematics ?

My understanding is this, master works schematics allow for a work to potentially be master-crafted with the right combinations of ingredients. There is nothing that master crafts 100% of the time. 50% is a good ingredient.
